Students of the “Bachelor in British and American Studies” programme at the Department of English Language, Faculty of Foreign Languages, UT, engaged in an awareness-raising activity on the occasion of Earth Day, aiming to educate younger citizens about our shared responsibility to protect our common home—the planet Earth.
Using their study of two key pillars leading to the emergence of the Modern Environmental Movement—the publication of Silent Spring by Rachel Carson and the first Earth Day protest in the United States on April 22, 1970—students prepared a presentation, an awareness-raising video, and a reading activity designed to encourage pupils to reflect and take action.
The visit to the “Mihal Grameno” 9-year school became a valuable learning and reflective experience for the students themselves—a meaningful reconnection with their younger selves and a step toward their future roles as educators.
The message conveyed throughout the activity was clear: together we are stronger, and we have the power to contribute to a more sustainable future by leaving the Earth in a better condition for the generations to come. 🌱
