On 23–24 October 2023, at the initiative of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the University of Tirana (FGJH-UT), the French Language Didactics Research Group organized the international conference entitled “Foreign Language and Culture Didactics: From Language Policies to Approaches towards Plurilingual Competence.”
The scientific event focused on the latest developments in the field of foreign language and culture didactics, best practices in language teaching, as well as language policies promoting plurilingualism and interculturality as essential competences for the future.
A total of 103 Albanian and international researchers presented theoretical approaches and their own practices concerning the improvement of foreign language teaching, language policies, and the use of innovative approaches and information technologies, with the aim of improving outcomes in language teaching and ensuring plurilingual and multicultural competence, enabling individuals to navigate and contribute to an increasingly open society.
The diverse participation of researchers from public and private higher education institutions, both in Albania and abroad, enabled not only meaningful academic exchange but also the presentation of innovative contributions and concrete conclusions that enrich Albanian didactic thought in the field of plurilingualism. The conference also contributed to making higher education institutions more effective and to better designing both initial and continuing teacher education for foreign language teachers, enabling them to transform theoretical knowledge into practical competences in the service of society.
