As part of the Bulgarian Language and Culture Summer School programme, participating students paid a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Tirana at the kind invitation of His Excellency Mr. Ivaylo Kirov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Albania.
The visit was attended by Associate Professor Adriatik Derjaj, PhD, Head of the Department of Slavic and Balkan Languages; Associate Professor Raqi Bello, PhD, from St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo; and Dr. Miranda Bello, Lecturer in Bulgarian at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Tirana.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kirov reflected on the more than century-long diplomatic relations between Albania and Bulgaria, highlighting the strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the importance of their shared European vision. Mr. Iliyan Krumov, First Secretary of the Embassy, subsequently presented the educational cooperation initiatives and joint projects supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria.
A highlight of the visit was the presentation of the Certificate of Honour by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria to Associate Professor Adriatik Derjaj, PhD, in recognition of his professionalism, long-standing dedication, and outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of Bulgarian Studies at the University of Tirana, his commitment to advancing the study of the Bulgarian language and culture, and his efforts to strengthen academic cooperation and friendship between Albania and Bulgaria.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the representatives of the Embassy expressed their sincere appreciation to the University of Tirana, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and the Department of Slavic and Balkan Languages for their excellent cooperation and continued support in promoting the study of the Bulgarian language and culture in Albania.
