🗓️🏛️On November 21st, 2024, at 10:00, the Department of English Language successfully organized the 14th International Conference in the “Evropa” Hall. Presentations by two invited professors, Dr.-Ing. Besim Kabashi, a lecturer at Friedrich-Alexander Erlangen-Nuremberg University and researcher in the Department of Corpus and Computational Linguistics, and Lina Abraitienė, a lecturer at Kauno Kolegija and researcher in audiovisual translation, subtitling, and the use of Artificial Intelligence in translation, were followed with great interest by the participants.
📢Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Hasa, in her capacity as the Head of the Department, opened the conference, emphasizing the importance of organizing such conferences, the outcomes of which are directly linked to teaching quality. The conference was greeted by Prof. Dr. Esmeralda Kromidha, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, who highlighted the significance of incorporating technological elements, particularly the development of linguistic corpora and computational linguistics, into scientific works and the development of new study programs, ensuring that the Faculty stays aligned with the latest innovations and advancements in linguistic sciences.The conference was also welcomed by Ieva Brazauskaitė-Zubavičienė, Head of the Department of Languages at Kauno Kolegija, who introduced the new collaboration established between her institution and the English Department to launch a new profile in undergraduate studies: English Language – Public Relations.🤝🏼
A special moment was dedicated to professors of the department who have retired, presenting them with certificates of appreciation on behalf of the entire English Department.😊
During the conference, over 30 scientific papers were presented and discussed by young researchers, doctoral students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, as well as invited lecturers from Lithuania and Kosovo. These papers explored topics of interest in the fields of linguistics, translation, literature, culture, and reflections on the challenges of teaching English in Albanian schools.📓✍🏻
