The Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Tirana, in cooperation with Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution, is pleased to announce the International Conference to be held on 23 October 2026:
“Multilingualism as a Challenge and Development Opportunity – Linguistic Dynamics in Global Contexts”
At a time when multilingualism is increasingly shaping social, institutional, educational, and cultural life, many structures continue to operate within predominantly monolingual frameworks. Educational systems, institutional practices, and traditional philological models often no longer reflect the complexity of today’s linguistic and cultural realities. This discrepancy calls for renewed scholarly reflection and the development of new theoretical, methodological, and practical approaches to multilingualism in contemporary societies.
The conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for discussing multilingualism as a linguistic, literary, cultural, educational, and social phenomenon. It invites researchers, academics, doctoral students, translators, teachers, cultural professionals, and other stakeholders to reflect collectively on the challenges and opportunities created by multilingualism and its role in social, cultural, and institutional transformation.
