On December 17, 2025, at the “Europe” Hall, Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Tirana, an important academic and institutional discussion took place focusing on sign language, identity, and the social integration of Deaf people.
The event brought together academics, institutional representatives, experts, community members, and students, addressing key topics such as:
🔹 identity through multimodal multilingualism
🔹 a rights-based and non-discriminatory approach
🔹 the role of education, sign language interpreters, and scientific research
🔹 challenges and employment perspectives for young Deaf people
The round table was organized within the framework of the PKKZH project, funded by AKKSHI:
“Developing research in Albanian Sign Language: from documentation and lexical enrichment to sociolinguistic analysis of communication among Deaf people.”
🙏 We sincerely thank all speakers, partner institutions, and students for their valuable contributions and active participation.
📚 Academic dialogue and inclusion remain essential to building a more inclusive society.
