Today, at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Tirana, the doctoral candidate Ms. Xhiljola Abdihoxhaj successfully defended her dissertation for the award of the Doctoral Degree, entitled “Paradigm of Linguistic and Cultural Communication in English Language Teaching, with Emphasis on the Role of the Mediator,” under the scientific supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adriana Dervishaj.
Through an integrated methodological approach combining direct classroom observations, analysis of structured questionnaires, and the review of specialized podcasts in the field, the research highlighted the challenges and opportunities that arise when instructors act as mediators in classrooms comprising students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
The study proposed strategies to foster multilingualism and interculturalism, contributing to the development of adapted teaching methods and to the creation of an inclusive and open learning environment.
The doctoral dissertation examined the linguistic and cultural dimensions of teaching, emphasizing the role of the instructor as a mediator in classrooms characterized by linguistic and cultural diversity.
Conducted within the research field of “Foreign Language Teaching,” the study received the highest evaluation from the jury, which acknowledged it as a significant contribution to the field of linguistic sciences.
