On May 29, 2025, the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Tirana, in collaboration with the Faculty of Philology at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina,” organized the
international conference “New Horizons in Translation and Interpreting in the Digital Age:
Challenges and Perspectives.” This important event brought together experts, researchers, and students from Albania, Kosovo, and other countries to discuss the impact of technology and
digitalization on the field of translation and interpreting.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks from Ms. Esmeralda Kromidha, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and Mr. Abdulla Rexhepi, Dean of the Faculty of Philology at the
University of Prishtina. The keynote speaker, Associate Professor Monika Płužycka from the University of Warsaw, shared her insights on the use of technology to understand cognitive
processes in translation.
Throughout the conference, plenary sessions and parallel panels were held, where challenges and opportunities presented by the digital age in translation and interpreting were discussed—
including the use of digital tools such as machine translation and artificial intelligence. The event was attended by numerous researchers and experts from various universities, who contributed with presentations and in-depth discussions on translation and interpreting in the context of digitalization.
