JSTOR  Library (Journal Storage)

University of Tirana in cooperation with the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) has finalized the agreement for the subscription to the JSTOR library.

JSTOR   library contains more than 12 million journal articles in more than 75 disciplines, 85,000 books and provides full –text searches of almost 2,000 journals. JSTOR was originally conceived as a solution to one of the problems faced by libraries, especially research and university libraries, due to the increasing number of academic journals in existence. This digital library was created to help  academics  and publishers convert printed works into digital formats that will be preserved for future generation.

Thanks to this finalized agreement, JSTOR  library  enables  academic staff and students to research in many fields of study such as business, technology, ecology, botany, natural and social sciences, law, history, cultural heritage, foreign  languages etc.

The main objective of this project is the digital management of the books of the FGJH library.

To increase the promotion of knowledge and culture internationally, participating in the mutual exchange of knowledge and values ​​in the function of globalization and the development of civilization.

– Building the FGJH Library application enables:

• Efficient book circulation.
• Monitoring book entries and exits.
• Reserving existing and old collections in electronic formats for:

-avoided irretrievable loss, by storing them electronically and avoiding direct contact with hard-copy materials worn by use and time.

• To increase public access in function of academic development.
• To increase the opportunity to progressively create new products with more effectiveness based on past and current studies.
