PROFESSIONAL DEGREE IN “MULTILINGUAL COMMUNICATION IN INSTITUTIONS AND ENTERPRISES”

Objectives and Formative Activities of the Study Programme

The short-cycle Professional Degree in “Multilingual Communication in Institutions and Enterprises” is offered as an interdepartmental study programme by all Departments of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law. It aims to develop a flexible professional profile capable of responding to the dynamics of institutional and business communication, positioning graduates as intermediaries between different institutional, administrative, and productive contexts.

The programme adopts a dynamic and student-centred approach, enabling students to acquire knowledge and practical skills that they begin to apply from the classroom onwards through coursework, projects, and other research- and practice-based activities included in the syllabi and integrated into the departments’ shared curriculum.

The programme combines theories and practices of applied foreign-language use in professional contexts, with a focus on interlinguistic, institutional, and business communication. The curriculum is designed to guide students towards the acquisition of professional competences applicable in the fields of institutional communication, diplomacy, business and enterprise, international organisations, and the management of inter-institutional relations.

The programme has the following objectives:

• To prepare specialists with in-depth knowledge of institutional, administrative, economic and legal topics, contextualised within the national and European reality. Such knowledge will be developed with particular attention to issues related to the internationalisation of institutions and enterprises and to inter-institutional exchanges;
• To equip students with the ability to use information and digital tools (CAT tools, project-management platforms, online institutional communication tools) in fields requiring specific competences.

Competences

During the course of this study programme, students will acquire the following competences:

• An advanced ability to acquire thematic knowledge in the field of institutional and business communication, as well as practical know-how applicable in professional practice as a linguistic and institutional intermediary;
• An advanced ability to present information, concepts and ideas in a foreign language before an audience of listeners or readers, in institutional and professional contexts;
• A high level of competence in the use of foreign languages at an advanced level, for institutional and diplomatic communication functions;
• An in-depth competence in better understanding the Other (the institutional or professional partner) and different foreign cultures;
• An in-depth competence in the theories and practices of institutional and business communication, as well as in negotiating effectively in one or more of these languages/cultures;
• A high level of competence in acquiring knowledge and good practices relating to administrative, economic, legal and institutional topics of partner countries and organisations;
• A high level of competence in knowledge relating to the basic disciplines of social, economic and legal sciences;
• An in-depth competence in conceiving and managing institutional communication projects and strategies, using language applied in administration and business, as well as the strategies and techniques acquired in the classroom;
• A high level of ability in using information and telematic tools (CAT tools, collaboration platforms, digital document management) in fields requiring specific competences;
• A high level of communicative ability in the role of institutional coordinator/intermediary when dealing with individuals or groups of different and particular natures;
• An in-depth competence in understanding and applying research methodology in the field of institutional and business communication;
• An in-depth competence in developing scientific research techniques and in extracting and processing information necessary in the field of institutional multilingual communication.

• Operator and manager of international and public relations in international bodies and organisations;
• Operator and manager of international relations in foreign and domestic associations, delegations and embassies;

• Manager of an enterprise or of an institutional communication department;
• Employee in various print and electronic media, covering in particular institutional, diplomatic and economic field.
