World Book and Copyright Day | 29 April 2025

On the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day and during the month dedicated to book fairs, on 29 April 2025, the Teaching and Research Group of the Department of Slavic and Balkan Languages, Turkish Language Section, organized a discussion entitled “The Translation of Philosophical and Religious Works.”

The guest of honour was Mr. Adnan Shala, philosopher, translator and Director of the “Hasan Tahsin” Institute for Human Studies in Kosovo. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Turkish and Islamic Philosophy at Istanbul Medeniyet University and has extensive experience as a lecturer at various philosophical and educational academies, as well as a career guidance trainer.

During the meeting with Turkish language students and lecturers, Mr. Shala shared his reflections on:
🔹 The importance of a profound knowledge of both the native and foreign language in translation
🔹 The accurate use of Albanian terminology in relation to foreign-language alternatives
🔹 The differentiation of meanings in philosophical and religious texts through contextual analysis

📖 Mr. Shala has translated the works of a number of prominent authors in Turkish, Islamic and modern thought, including Nevzat Tarhan, Kemal Sayar, Sezai Karakoç and Atasoy Müftüoğlu.

🎁 At the conclusion of the meeting, he presented each participant with one of his most recently translated works in Albanian and encouraged students to read and study with passion in order to become accomplished translators of ideas and thought.
