📚🌍 On the occasion of International Translation Day, Associate Professor Diana Kastrati presented her new book, The Art of Imperfection: Studies, Reflections and Approaches to the Trinity of Author, Translation Process and Literary Translator, at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Tirana.
Associate Professor Dr. Kastrati, currently Executive Director of the Center for Studies and Publications for the Arbëresh (QSPA), a lecturer and scholar of Italian language, literature and culture, has made a distinguished contribution to the fields of literary translation and translation studies. Her work has been recognized through important national and international awards and distinctions, including the “Pashko Gjeçi” National Translation Award (2025), the National Award for “Best Translation of the Year” (2016), and the title of “Cavaliere della Stella d’Italia” (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy, 2018), conferred by the President of the Italian Republic.
Through the moderation of Associate Professor Dr. Marsela Likaj, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the audience was introduced to Dr. Kastrati’s academic and professional profile, as well as her contribution to literary translation, translation studies and Italian culture. Through questions and reflections, the discussion focused on the book’s central themes, paying particular attention to the relationship between the author, the translation process and the literary translator. The author shared experiences and insights drawn from her long-standing career as a scholar, lecturer and translator of works by renowned Italian authors such as Umberto Eco, Alberto Moravia, Andrea Camilleri, Antonio Pennacchi and Carlo Levi.
The discussion highlighted translation not only as a linguistic process, but also as an act of cultural and creative interpretation, encouraging interest and reflection among participants. The event provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue on the role of translation in building bridges of communication between languages, cultures and traditions.
