The Teaching and Research Group “German Translation and Interpreting” aims to develop and strengthen research and academic activities in the fields of translation and interpreting in German, with a particular focus on contemporary approaches, technological developments, and the professional preparation of students.
Some of the research topics addressed by this group in its research activities include:
- “Interpreting/Translation in Virtual Reality. Integration of Technology into the Translation Process” – a project encompassing the following research areas:
Project Activities:
- Training and development of students’ skills in the field of virtual translation;
- Interpretation/Translation in Virtual Reality – Curriculum Design, READ Project;
- Doctoral research: “The Interpreter, Interpreting and Political Discourse through the Analysis of Discourses Translated from German into Albanian and Vice Versa.”
Other Activities of the Group:
- Development/verification of the content of the relevant courses for the second semester of the 2022/2023 academic year through a joint meeting – verification of the respective syllabi;
- Discussions on the current situation and outcomes, as well as on possible and necessary changes to curricula and teaching methods, particularly the identification of a common topic to be addressed in seminars;
- “Best Translation among German Language Students” Competition, 2023–2024;
- Publication of a booklet featuring students’ translations;
- Conference organized by the Department of German Language within the framework of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the department: “Interkulturalität, Mehrsprachigkeit und Sprach(en)politik im europäischen Zusammenhang” (“Interculturality, Multilingualism and Language Policy in the European Context”).
Participation in conferences and publication in national and international scientific journals with impact factors remain a permanent commitment of this group.
