The Master of Science program in “Technical – Literary Translation and Interpretation” is offered by all Departments in the Faculty of Foreign Languages and aims to prepare the formation of a versatile professional figure, professional translator and interpreter, capable of oral and written translation , texts and lectures with a high degree of difficulty and importance. Students who graduate from this study program facilitate communication between languages and cultures that are in constant communication with the Albanian language, as well as accompany the dynamics of interlinguistic and intercultural relations and different fields of the development of Albanian society.
The curricula of this study program and the formative activities that characterize it, which are based on the activation and acquisition of high translation and interpretation skills in two foreign languages in addition to the Albanian language, will guide the student towards obtaining professional skills valuable for the exercise of his profession. The study program enables students at the Master’s level to gain in-depth knowledge of the processes involved in the field of translation and interpretation, but also the ability to perform and provide a translation service in accordance with the highest professional and ethical standards, domestic and European.
The professional practice of the Master of Science program in “Technical-Literary Translation and Interpretation” constitutes an important element in the curriculum of the program aimed at deepening the professional training of the student and applying the knowledge of a practical and professional character acquired during the study program of second cycle in the field of translation and interpretation. Professional practice aims to create suitable conditions for students’ acquaintance and adaptation in the professional environment. Internship in institutions aims to be a valuable experience which can also serve as a starting point for a successful career in the future.
In order to complete the objectives and formative activities provided in the curriculum, students must develop an internship in one or several local or foreign institutions/organizations/companies. The numerous MOU-type agreements that the Faculty of Foreign Languages (FFL) has with public and private institutions (translation agencies, museums, various companies, the State Archives, various enterprises or companies that focus on translation and interpretation) provide students with the practical application of theoretical knowledge gained during classroom learning. During the internship, the student activates and connects theoretical knowledge with practical ones, so that the internship in institutions is a valuable experience that can also serve as a starting point for a successful career and employment in the future.
The competences intended to be obtained from this study program are in accordance with the competence framework of EMT – European Master’s in Translation – which is in force for the period 2018-2024.
The program, with a wide range of subjects, provided during the two years of study, incorporates diverse disciplines, which ensure specialized university training in the relevant field, and also aims in:
Students enrolled in this study program can become part of a European program in the field of translation “Delocalized 1 (one) year Master in Professional Translation” which is offered in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg, ITIIR-Institute of Translators and Interpreters and of International Relations, and thus obtain a foreign degree. The procedures for applying and accepting students in this study program become known at the beginning of each academic year.
