The Teaching and Research Group “Italian Literature and Communication”, established within the Department of Italian Language, is composed of academic staff specializing in Italian, whose academic background is aligned with the fields of translation and interpreting. The group aims to promote a deeper understanding of Italian literature and to ensure its rigorous scientific communication. Improving teaching and learning by addressing challenges encountered in the fields of Italian literature and communication is one of the long-term objectives of this research group.

To achieve its objectives, the group “Italian Literature and Communication” has developed the project: Italian Literature and Religion: Italian Literature and Religion in the 19th and 20th Centuries

Research Areas of the Project:

  • In-depth study of works written by Italian authors of the 19th and 20th centuries;
  • Exploration of the aesthetic, political, religious and social aspects of the respective works that have contributed to shaping Italian literature and culture;
  • Development of multilingual and intercultural communication competences through the study of Italian literature;
  • Exploring the use of Italian literature in various fields, such as journalism, public relations, publishing, and communication of research findings, etc.

Group Activities 2022–2024:

  • Conference with Prof. Dr. Klara Kodra, “Ricchezza di linguaggi e di messaggi nella letteratura italiana e i problemi di traduzione nella lingua albanese”;
  • Conference, video film and poetry readings by Pier Paolo Pasolini: introducing students to the writer and his poetry;
  • Theatre: dramatization of a Pirandellian novella – promoting students’ acquisition of Italian language and culture;
  • Conference on Nobel laureate Grazia Deledda – dramatization of the final part of Deledda’s work by students;
  • “Scrivi con noi” Competition: an activity supporting the objectives of the project Italian Literature and Religion: Italian Literature and Religion in the 19th and 20th Centuries;
  • Training sessions, workshops, open lectures, videoconferences, seminars and reciprocal mobility activities within the framework of the Siena Agreement (January–September 2023 and October–September 2024). Research topics: “Contributing to the Dissemination of Italian Culture and Literature in Albania”, “Publications and Contributions to the Dissemination of Italian Culture and Literature in Albania”;
  • Conference on the topic: “Exploring Italian-Albanian Cultural Relations in the Age of Media”. Target group: academic staff and students;
  • Workshop/seminar on the project “Italian Literature and Religion: Italian Literature and Religion in the 19th and 20th Centuries”;
  • Compilation of a summary brochure for the project;
  • Implementation of the project; publication of conference papers in a proceedings book;
  • Development of a literature-related project database.

Group Activities 2023–2024:

  • Conference of the Department of Italian Language at the Faculty of Foreign Languages on the occasion of its 40th anniversary: “40 Years with the Italian Language, Literature and Culture at the Faculty of Foreign Languages”;
  • Italo Calvino – 100 years since the writer’s birth;
  • Fatima Scialdone – “Cantando L’Italia”;
  • Course “Dizione, fonazione e tecniche di comunicazione della lingua italiana”, delivered by Fatima Scialdone – practical language training aimed at improving speaking and communication skills in Italian;
  • Participation in the International Competition: Story Writing in Italian, with students from the Department of Italian Language.
