The international conference “30 years of German studies” took place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Department of German Language at the University of Tirana. Together with German Ambassador Peter Zingraf and other guests of honor, Ambassador Christian Steiner highlighted the successful cooperation over the past decades. Since 1992, the Department of German became an integral part of the Faculty of Foreign Languages in Tirana. For many years an Austrian lecturer has been teaching the history of the German-speaking world. Since the beginning, the Austrian Embassy has continuously supported the organization of scientific and cultural activities. In the activity, the participants presented various papers related to the didactic importance of the German language and the problems encountered in relation to its translation into the Albanian language. Prof. Agnes Grond from the University of Graz statement stood out as the key speaker, who referred to the topic “Multilingualism: spoken, forced, implemented, abandoned and invisible languages in multilingual Styria.
