Doctoral studies are organized as individualized programs aimed at developing candidates’ capacity for independent scientific research in the fields specified by the base unit or the main unit of the higher education institution. These programs are grounded in original research and scholarly creative activities. Doctoral studies are conducted within research groups, supervised by academic staff holding the title of “Associate Professor” or “Professor.” The duration of doctoral studies shall be no less than three (3) academic years and no more than five (5) academic years. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates are awarded the diploma conferring the academic degree of “Doctor” (PhD).
Doctoral studies may be undertaken on a full-time basis within the base unit, or on a part-time/extended basis in cases where the doctoral candidate is employed as academic staff at another higher education institution, or as research staff in a basic or applied research institution.
