The Teaching-Research Group of Literature in the Department of German Language focuses on the analysis of subject programs, the performance of lecturers and the progress of students in  Literature subject , aiming for results that reflect on the current situation (taking into account the analysis of the questionnaires of students) and the marking of key priorities for the future, which are expected to serve as a basis for the design of development strategies at the group, department and faculty level, for the 2022-2024 years. Giving a boost to scientific research in the field of German literature is another goal of this research group, also aiming to open a doctoral school in this field.

Regarding the study programs offered, this working group will work in two directions. First, it will work on the implementation of the programs of the first and second cycle of studies, Bachelor and Master, secondly, it will work on updating or reforming the existing programs, in accordance with the requirements of the new HE law and the labor market.

OBJECTIVES FOR THE 2023-2024 YEAR

The Teaching-Research Group of German Language Literature, in cooperation with similar groups in other departments of the faculty, plans to initiate joint scientific and literary activities, in which professors and researchers of literature in different languages find meeting points and discuss them with the aim of creating a basis for Comparative Literature, which has not yet found a place in our programs.

The Teaching-Research Group of German Language Literature, in cooperation with the Translation-Interpretation group in our department, will consider the need for an analysis of all literary translations from German language and vice versa with the aim of giving impetus to literary works criticism translated from this language.

The Teaching-Research Group of German Language Literature will also aim to enrich the German language library with new contemporary literature from the field of literature.

GROUP ACTIVITIES:

In the framework of the international scientific conference that will be organized by the department on  26-27 April, 2023 on the topic “Interculturality, multilingualism and language policy(s) in the European context”, our teaching-research group will present the study work through presentations that will be held in the “Literature and Culture” section. (Expenses related to this activity will be covered by the 2022-2023budget.)

Members of this teaching-research group will participate in international conferences, workshops, publications in scientific journals inside and outside the country, some of them already planned individually.

In October-November 2023, a Scientific Symposium on the author Ingeborg  Bachmann  is being planned, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the author’s death. The activity will be supported by the Austrian Embassy in Tirana.

Projects applications within the programs of the European Union, READ, National Agency of Scientific Research, University of Tirana, Faculty of Foreign languages etc. with the focus of being involved in ERASMUS+ projects for more mobility of lecturers, joint development projects encouraged by different organizations etc.

STUDENTS LITERARY ACTIVITIES

Following the good experience created in recent years regarding the promotion of literature, we have planned the following activities:

  • Literary translation competition (April 2023). In cooperation with the translation-interpretation research group, we have started to work on the selection of texts that will be offered to students for translation. Actually we organize it once a year but we are thinking to extend it to students having German as a second language. (Expenses related to this activity will be covered by the 2022-2023 budget.)
  • Literary activity on the Austrian author Ingeborg Bachmann (October-November 2023). Screening of a short film, some readings, student translations and interpretations, activity that will accompany the symposium planned for this author. This activity will be supported by the Austrian Embassy in Tirana.
  • Reading parts from the latest work of the author Lindita Arapi (October-November 2023) translated into German, to be presented in April at the Leipzig Book Fair. It is of a regional scope and will be supported by the DAAD (The German Academic Exchange Service).
