For the academic year 2025–2026, the Teaching and Research Group of French Literature focused on activities related to the presentation of several French or Francophone authors of recent years, laureates of various literary prizes, with the aim of conveying, to some extent, an atmosphere and an echo of what is taking place in the French literary landscape.
The aim of this project is to become acquainted with contemporary literature and authors who have received literary awards in France, who may eventually be included in our updated curricula or may complement them with additional information acquired through extracurricular activities.
Alongside this project, another area of focus would be the study of canonical authors and works of French literature, thereby enriching the existing curricula.
In implementation of the plan developed for this purpose, the following activities were carried out:
On 16 December 2025, Prof. Dr. Saverina Pasho delivered an open lecture with students and colleagues of French at the Faculty of Foreign Languages – University of Tirana, entitled: “Kamel Daoud – The Voice of Silent Algeria.” This activity, dedicated to the 2024 Goncourt Prize laureate, Kamel Daoud, for his work Houris, was conducted in an interactive spirit, involving exchanges of ideas, reflections, and extensive discussions.
On 16 March 2026, within the framework of the Francophonie Spring, the Department of French Philology of the University of Granada, in partnership with the Department of French, organized the conference: “Exceptional Women: Burrneshat and Women Travellers of Our Time.”
This scientific and cultural event brought together lecturers, students, and enthusiasts of French literature and culture around two interesting lectures that shed light on different female journeys:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ardiana Hyso and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elona Toro invited the audience to reflect on the Burrneshat of Albania: Anthropological Perspectives and Literary Considerations.
Fanny Martin Quatremare, in her lecture, presented contemporary figures of fearless women travellers and writers.
On 26 March 2026, continuing the implementation of the Teaching and Research Group’s calendar, Dr. Laureta Mema delivered an open lecture entitled “Desire Structured by Poetic Language,” an articulated reflection on the poetic works of three poets: Pierre Reverdy, Francis Ponge, and René Char.
This presentation provided an in-depth approach to the role of poetic language, not merely as a means of expression, but as a structure that shapes and organizes desire. The lecture was followed with great interest and in an interactive spirit, with numerous comments and questions.
During the month of May, in continuation of the objectives of the French Literature Teaching and Research Group, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lorena Dedja will hold a round-table discussion with the participation of students, colleagues, and representatives of Dituria Publishing House and the National Centre for Books and Reading (QKLL), entitled A Mirror of Fractures and Abuses in Contemporary Society – Human Things, by Karin Tuil.
This author is a recipient of the Goncourt Prize for Young Readers. Her work is of particular interest to students, but not only to them.
