Double Master’s Degree in Automatic Language Processing

This study program aims to:

  • familiarize students with Artificial Intelligence;
  • teach them how to train computers to process linguistic material by transforming it into data;
  • instruct them on how to automatically extract meaning from text, create chatbots, build neural networks, and use linguistic data in dedicated information systems.

Students will:

  • obtain a double degree from the University of Tirana and Sorbonne Paris Nord University;
  • attend their second year of studies at Sorbonne Paris Nord University (if they wish);
  • complete their internship in France, in companies that have cooperation agreements with USPN.

The internship is an essential component of the Master’s program and extends over the two years of study. The curriculum also includes lectures by both international and Albanian professionals in the field.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can work as:

  • developers and users of chatbots;
  • developers and users of neural networks;
  • computational linguistics project programmers;
  • specialists in data identification, collection, and processing;
  • specialists in creating and managing databases;
  • specialists in automatic and semi-automatic translation;
  • specialists in information and multimedia product editing;
  • specialists in managing pedagogical content (computer-assisted and distance learning);
  • specialists in computational lexicography and terminography;
  • specialists in customer service;
  • computational linguists.

Automatic Language Processing offers exceptional value for organizations across various sectors – from digital communications and healthcare to finance, marketing, retail, translation, and e-learning.

Some of the most common industrial applications of Automatic Language Processing today include:

  • spelling and grammar analysis;
  • chatbots;
  • automatic text classification and generation;
  • automatic identification of linguistic features;
  • artificial intelligence for market intelligence;
  • virtual assistants (e.g., Alexa and Siri);
  • automated language translation (e.g., Microsoft/Skype Translator);
  • data analysis;
  • machine learning, cyber security, etc.

The curriculum is identical to that of the Master’s program at Sorbonne Paris Nord University and will be taught jointly by professors from USPN, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and the Faculty of Economy of the University of Tirana, which is a partner in establishing this double degree.
