The Teaching-Research Group “Translation and Interpretation” set up at the Italian Language Department, is composed of lecturers of this language whose training is in accordance with the field of translation and interpretation.
The purpose of this group is to improve teaching and learning with the aim at solving the problems encountered through analyzing the results of questionnaires with students and pedagogical staff.
Objectives:
- Review of Bachelor’s and Master’s cycle course syllabi;
- Realization of the learning process;
- Follow-up of course assignments;
- Mentoring Diploma Theses;
- Administration of questionnaires related to the progress of the teaching process;
- Promotion of study programs;
- Participation in national and international conferences, publications in proceeding books;
- Exchange of research experiences and expertise with local and foreign researchers.
In order to achieve some of these goals, the group has designed the project: “Translation of Italian children’s literature into Albanian”
The purpose of the project: Creating a complete picture on the translations of Italian children’s literature into the Albanian language and the cultural context in which they were translated
Research axes of the project:
- Children’s literature, its characteristics and functions.
- Texts of various Italian authors translated into Albanian – Study of a wide corpus of translated texts.
- Project outputs: Project recommendations for young translators, Publication and dissemination of didactic research findings:
Target group: Researchers, academic staff and students of Italian Language Department.
Group activities:
- Conference on the topic “Richness of languages and messages in Italian literature and the problem of translation in the Albanian language” presented by Dr . Klara Kodra.
- Literary activity: “Italo Calvino – 100 years since the birth of the author”
- Cultural activity: “Fatima Scialdone – Cantando l’Italia”
- Conference on the topic: ” Cultural relations between Italy and Albania in the media century”, “Promotion of the book ‘Ciao Albania’ by the author Vito Saracino”
- Workshop: ” Let’s translate for young readers”
- Translation competition: “Translating for young scholars”
- Summary brochure of the project: “Translation of Italian children’s literature into Albanian”
- Activities within the agreement of the University of Siena: Trainings, workshops, open lectures, video conferences, seminars, mutual mobility
The research axes that these activities will focus on:
- Didactic research results of translation and interpretation of the Italian language valid for implementation in classrooms.
- Italian culture and literature in Albania.
- Conference on the topic: “40th anniversary of the Italian language department at FFL” (January-December 2024)
- Translation competition: “Technical literary translation and interpretation” (May, 2024)
