Objectives and formative activities of the study program

Master of Science program in” French Language  Teaching for Upper Secondary Education” is offered at the Faculty of Foreign Languages by the Department of French Language and aims to prepare teachers of upper secondary education, specialized in teaching French, able to practice the new teaching profession effectively and to learn throughout life.

This program also aims at the professional training of the French language teacher capable of responding concretely to the demands of the Albanian, regional and world reality, using methods and tools suitable for the linguistic needs of teenagers and adults and to help education intercultural for a free movement both through study programs and for employment. This program is forward-looking because it prepares competent teachers in teaching strategies, in the design and implementation of teaching programs as well as in the use of new teaching technologies.

The program has the following objectives:
  • To offer an in-depth theoretical knowledge  in the subjects for which the student prepares as a teacher;
  • To form competences for the fulfillment of different roles of the teacher;
  • To develop scientific research skills in the field of education;
  • To develop skills for reflection and professional development.
  • To provide students with scientific knowledge in the field of educational psychology, learning theories and evaluation
  • To provide students with high theoretical knowledge and practical skills for achieving high standards in teaching in secondary schools, applying the theories and practice of education in relation to the characteristics of the age group, the advantages of education in our country and the role of the teacher as a professional in a changing social context.
Competencies
  • In-depth speaking and writing skills in French and a second foreign language at an intermediate or advanced level;
  • In-depth competence to teach in various contexts, in secondary education;
  • In-depth competence in the recognition and implementation of different teaching techniques that enable the active involvement of students and facilitate the acquisition of a foreign language;
  • In-depth competence in the presentation and processing of different methods and ways for an active and inclusive learning.
  • In-depth competence in the use of teaching technologies;
  • High ability in involvement in research study  in the field of teaching;
  • High ability in reading and evaluating methodical literature and current research in this field;
  • High ability in adapting and creating new techniques in the field of teaching;
  • High ability in promoting social/cultural values, as well as in the development and intercultural education of students.

Teaching practice

The teaching practice constitutes an important element in the curricula of the Master of Science study program in “French Language Teaching for Upper Secondary Education”. The practice envisages enabling the use of the knowledge acquired in the theoretical formation, in a practical and professional context. The teaching practice of this program takes place in educational institutions of upper secondary education, public and non-public schools of pre-university education.

The internship aims to develop French language teaching skills, practical application of teaching methods acquired in the classroom, as well as to test and evaluate students’ teaching knowledge and beliefs. The internship takes place in the IV semester of the duration of the study program and also aims to familiarize and train students in teaching activities, familiarization with educational policies and the current problems of the school and education as a whole.
