Linguistics – Translation Research Group

The object of Linguistics – Translation Research Group of the Greek language is the revision of the subject programs for the new academic year, their updating in accordance with the requirements of the time and their coverage with qualified internal and external staff remains one of the priorities of the long-term work of this group.
To achieve the goals of these research issues, this research group has designed the project:
“Strategies of learning Greek lexicon at Albanian-Greek bilingual schools of upper secondary education“
Research axes:
- Greek language learning strategies
- Discovery, analysis and comparison of vocabulary learning strategies used by students of bilingual Greek-Albanian schools in Albania
- Evaluation of the usage of strategies and time devoted to learning Greek language as well as the enrichment of the vocabulary.
Target groups: students from an Albanian-Greek bilingual school of higher and upper secondary education in Tirana.
Planned activities for the realization of this project;
- Collecting, processing and analyzing the forms/questionnaires and showing of the results in the Greek language department.
- Assessment report of students in higher and upper secondary schools of Tirana on the level of language achievement before and after the project.(by age group).
- Workshop/training: “On the methods of teaching and learning the lexicon of the Greek language”.
- Round table: “With experts from educational directorates as well as teachers and school leaders of Greek-Albanian schools of upper secondary education of Tirana, in the territory of the Republic of Albania”, within the framework of the project “Strategies of learning Greek lexicon at Albanian-Greek bilingual schools of upper secondary education” announced as winner by FFL.
- Publication of training abstracts and announcements.
- Publication of the Manual “Albanian and Bilingual Language Guide” For teachers of upper secondary education, who teach in bilingual schools
Other group activities:
- Scientific research activity: “International Greek Language Day” (February 2023)
- Activity organized by Greek Language Department, with the participation of invited lecturers from several Greek Universities.
- Co-organizer in the Scientific Activity that will be held at Logos University College.
- International Scientific Conference in collaboration with the Ionian University of Corfu. The main topic will be “Translation of Greek Language”, also in the framework of the new bilingual educational program (May 2023)
- Summer school; “Greek Language, history and civilization”. (September 2023)
- Student conference: “Problems, challenges and innovation of learning in the context of globalization” (December 2023)
- Scientific research activity: “International Greek Language Day”. (February 2024)
Job fair, organized with the participation of various Greek companies operating in the country, in cooperation with the Embassy of Greece in Tirana and the Chamber of Commerce of Greece in Tirana: “One more employment opportunity for our students”
