Objectives and formative activities of the study program
The Bachelor’s program in French with a profile in “Language and Communication” is offered at the Faculty of Foreign Languages by the Department of French and aims to prepare specialists  not only with very good knowledge of the written  and spoken language, but also with the  culture of French history and literature.

 This study program offers:

–  not only advanced knowledge of the written and spoken language, but also of French culture, history and literature, including a critical thinking of theories and principles in this field of study.

– advanced skills that demonstrate high competence and innovation, required to solve complex and unpredictable problems in this field of study.

The program has the following objectives:

– To offer in-depth theoretical training in teaching subjects using  language skills.

– To educate students with approach, conviction and intercultural awareness.

– To develop very good communication skills.

– To develop skills for reflection and professional development.

 

Competencies

The program, offered over three (3) years of study and covering a wide range of subjects, includes diverse disciplines that provide a general university education specialized in the relevant field. The program aims to:

  • Equip students with a thorough knowledge of both written and spoken French, as well as its culture, history, and literature;
  • Provide students with a strong command of a second foreign language (Language C);
  • Develop in-depth mastery of the Albanian language (Language A);
  • Enable students to communicate effectively and switch between languages in different contexts and fields, using appropriate language registers according to the interlocutors;
  • Apply linguistic, philological, and literary competencies to carry out bibliographic research, and to prepare summaries and reports on specific research topics;
  • Demonstrate the ability to use learning tools to update and deepen their knowledge in professional contexts, as well as to pursue further studies.

 

Opportunities for employment and professional qualification

The Faculty of Foreign Languages offers continuing education programs for students in coordination with employers. These training programs cover a variety of topics and are designed in accordance with both the students’ academic background and the demands of the labor market.

Students may be employed part-time in companies with which the Faculty of Foreign Languages has signed Cooperation Agreements. Graduates can pursue employment in both the public and private sectors, including educational institutions, media organizations, publishing houses, cultural and tourism institutions, and translation agencies.

Graduates of the Bachelor’s program may be employed in roles such as:

  • Tourist guides in museums, historical sites, and cultural centers.
  • Staff at tourist information points near municipalities throughout the country.
  • Clerks in foreign affairs and public relations offices of public and private institutions.
  • Employees in print and visual media.
  • Staff at Albanian embassies abroad or foreign embassies in Albania.
  • Researchers and cultural mediators.
  • Teachers in foreign language centers.

Further Studies at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Tirana (FFL-UT)

The Bachelor’s degree in French Language with a specialization in Language and Communication provides opportunities for further studies at the second cycle (Master’s level) and/or other programs offered under the applicable legal framework and regulations. Available programs include:

  • Master of Science in Teacher of French Language for Upper Secondary Education
  • Master of Science in Language, Intercultural Communication, and Tourism
  • Master of Science in Technical-Literary Translation and Interpretation
  • Professional Master’s degree in Translation with the profile of Translator
  • Master of Science in Automatic Language Processing, specializing in the automatic and linguistic processing of written documents

Erasmus+ Scholarship Program Funded by the European Union
Students of FFL-UT have the opportunity to spend one or two semesters at partner universities abroad through the Erasmus+ KA1 program. Partner institutions are located in: Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Czech Republic, Latvia, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Romania.
